Memories
Memories with Steph or Kale (anyone can leave a comment, not only Google account holders.)
1. As a comment on my blog, leave one memory that you and I had together. It doesn't matter if you knew me a little or a lot, anything you remember!
2. Next, re-post these instructions on your blog and see how many people leave a memory about you. It's actually pretty funny to see the responses. If you leave a memory about me, I'll assume you're playing the game and I'll come to your blog and leave one about you. If you don't want to play on your blog, or if you don't have a blog, I'll leave my memory of you in my comments.

Wisconsin
My parents live in Oshkosh, WI, and we're flying out there to see them. We're looking forward to lots of fun days with grandparents, Aunt Beth, Uncle Jason, cousins Damon & Isa, and even some great friends we haven't seen in way too long.
Wish us luck with the traveling. Brenton was sick the last few days, so we're hoping Alex doesn't catch it just when it's time to leave.
For those of you worried about Bunsen...we have our great friends coming over to take care of him for us. He will be spoiled. (I'm sure everyone was worried!)

4th of July
Happy 4th of July! It was a great holiday, and a very fun time for our boys.
The boys were excited to go to the parade. Brenton hasn't been to a lot of them, so the only thing he really remembers about parades, are the things he sees on T.V.. He kept telling us we were going to see drums, tubas, trumpets, flutes, elephants, lions, etc.. It was kind of disappointing that there was NO marching band in the parade.

At the parade:
Our friends Sarah & Karla A. were there. They happened to park by us, so they helped us with the kids. Sarah babysits sometimes for the boys. I think Brenton enjoyed having her there. The below picture is Brenton sitting on Sarah's lap.
Sparky the fire dog was walking around. For some reason, Brenton doesn't like life-sized animals. He never has...I wonder if he ever will. At least this time he wasn't screaming as he shook the animal's hand.
Picking up candy: If you want to get LOTS of candy at a parade, just sit with two little boys. We were constantly dodging the flying pieces of sugar.

After the first couple of pick ups, Brenton spent the remainder of the parade doing this...eating the candy. (Notice the beach ball in the stroller. The boys were actually given 2 beach balls, and airplane and a whistle during the parade! How crazy is that?)

Italian Ice: A favorite for the boys. Brenton was given his own, and Alex had to share with Dad.

This is how Alex told Kale he was ready for more. Gotta love the tongue!

The result of blue Italian Ice.
The result of a long day...By the time we left, they were both so tired and sugared out, that this is how Brenton looked. Please take note of the DIRTY tear running down his face. Adorable, funny, and annoying all at the same time.

We Love McDonalds!
I know McDonald's isn't the healthiest place to take our children to eat. The problem is, in our valley, it's pretty much the only place.
They have really started to enjoy the Happy Meals. Brenton's favorite is probably the juice boxes, but Alex especially likes the French fries. This is what he likes to do with them.

So, next time you enjoy your McDonald's French fries, maybe you should try them "seasoned" as Alex likes them. (Kale is probably going to kill me for saying that...He's much too proper.)

Steph's Retreat
No...our closet is still not done. I am hopefully going to get it painted tomorrow, and then our construction guy is going to come back and finish up the trim. (Our "construction guy" is a friend of ours, and a lot of stuff has happened that have prevented our build from going as fast as he'd like it to.) We're hoping that Monday or Tuesday evening we'll be moving our "crap" into the closet, and putting our basement back together. I cannot wait!!!!
Anyway...new subject. I know I haven't updated for a while...so there's lots to update about.
Up first, I (Steph) went on a MOPS retreat. MOPS stands for "Mothers of Preschoolers", and it's a Christian organization that I joined. I LOVE it. The group I'm in is very open to all religions. We have several different non-denominational Christians, Lutherans, me who is LDS ("Mormon"), a couple of Catholics, and even a couple of woman who really don't have any religion. The other women are absolutely wonderful. It's great to be able to talk to mothers who have some of the same daily trials that I have. It's also great to meet women (who live in my area) that care about how they raise their children. They value education and having a testimony of Christ in their lives.
I joined the planning committee for MOPS this upcoming year. I'm doing the bookkeeping and registration, so nothing new or difficult for me. Because I'm on the "steering team" I get to go to meetings, and of course the annual retreat. Besides planning out our year of meetings, I was able to get to know some wonderful women a lot better.
If you are an at home mom, I strongly encourage to find some kind of play-group you can join. You and your children really need that connection with other people. Especially you. (Well, at least we do.)
First picture: A view from the cabin our retreat was held at. One of the other Mom's Father in law & family actually live in the cabin. They lent it to us for the night. The family even stayed through dinner and served it to us. What wonderful and amazing people!

Second Picture: A view from the loft in the cabin. We were getting ready to start the planning meeting. Of course not everyone is in the picture. Some of the women took pictures with all of us in it. Hopefully I can get a copy of that and post it later.

4th of July camping
Here we go: my (Kale's) first blog post. So now the blog truly is kalensteph, not just Steph :)
We live in a wonderful neck of the woods, yet we rarely venture out to go camping in the wonderful wilderness. We finally packed the SUV to the ceiling with every comfort of home and spent part of the long weekend at the Bumblebee camping area. We had a great time "roughing it" with Danny and Crystal and "Grampa and Gramma" Sevy (and Cooper, too). We had some really good food, some relaxing time around the fire, some cool-off time by the river, and even managed to keep the kids out of the campfire. Danny and I even managed to work in a little bike ride.
