Fishing with the Sevy's

Back in the summer, we went fishing with the Sevy's a few times. There's a little lake up called Rose Lake. You catch a lot of fish. They aren't large fish, but the boys don't care.

The dock area was a great place for the boys to swim. They got to swim with Cooper (the Sevy's weiner dog), eat snacks, and fish. Who could ask for a better day?

Oh yeah. Plus, I caught a pike. :)

August 2011 - Pinehurst Days

Back in August, we went to Pinehurst Days in of course...Pinehurst. It was a great parade, as always, and the boys enjoyed the car show immensely. (I ran into a great friend and was able to sit in the shade and chat with her while the boys were at the car show.)

1st Day of School

The first day of school was great. Brenton and Alex both loved it!

Brenton is back at Canyon Elementary. He's in a K-1 class again, so he has the same teacher he did last year. He LOVES his teacher! There is a lot of new kindergartners this year, so they have a para-professional helping out full-time in his classroom. We found out when we went in to the school, that the para is his "FAVORITE teacher ever!" She worked with him last year for his reading group. He's excited to have her in the classroom, also.

Above: Alex in Brenton's classroom. He was bigger than most of the Kindergartners, and REALLY wanted to stay there. It was hard convincing him to leave. (It did help that he had his school later that day.)

Alex only has three kids in his class so far. He's a mentor student for a special needs pre-school. The special needs kids are still being evaluated. They will be added to the appropriate class as the evaluations are completed. He should end up with around 6-10 kids total.

First Day of School

The first day of school is tomorrow. Brenton is starting 1st grade, and Alex is starting pre-school. Wish us luck.

OK with G&G

My parents flew me and the boys out for a visit. It was a wonderful visit, despite the 100+ degree weather plus humidity that we aren't used to. :) We enjoyed the time with my parents, and seeing Tahlequah, OK. It's actually a very nice place, and they are very happy there.

My parents have a puppy named Chewbacca (Chewy for short). Brenton loved him. He loved everything about him.

Below: Brenton playing with Chewy.

We went with my parents to a University football game. The boys enjoyed it. (Mostly because of the snacks and drinks they got to have while there.)
Below: Notice they had some blue candy. :)

My dad took us on a float trip down the river. It was lots of fun. The river was super low, so it was pretty slow. My dad actually ended up paddling most of the way. (We were going too slow for him.)

Since my dad is acting president for the University, we got the royal treatment. There were lots of other people there doing float trips, but we were able to have our own bus taking us to the starting point in the river. It's nice to know people who are popular. :)

Us ready for the trip.
We stopped part way down the river and let the boys play.

Above: Grandma told Alex to make sure and get Grandpa super wet. So, this was one of his first attempts at that.

Afterwards, we bought the boys some drinks. They loved sitting at the soda bar. (Yes, there is a soda bar at the raft rental place.)

My mom took us to Branson, MO to see Dolly Parton's Dixie Stampede. We stayed in a super nice motel (free from my parents hotel points), which my mom was able to get upgraded. Our room was AWESOME!

Below: Pictures from the Dixie Stampede. The boys watched the show closely, and cheered at the right times. Plus, our team won. Super cool.
